Baritone, Jonathan Patton
is quickly establishing himself as a compelling interpreter of both standard and contemporary repertoire. A former Cafritz Young Artist with the Washington National Opera, he appeared in eleven productions during his tenure, including the title role in Mason Bates’s The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, Marcello in La bohème, Macbeth in a special presentation of Verdi’s Macbeth, and the creation of Austin in Cry, Wolf as part of WNO’s American Opera Initiative.
During the 2026–27 season, Patton makes his debut with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, covering Owen and Johnson in Omar, returns to the Metropolitan Opera to cover Bello in Puccini’s La fanciulla del West, makes his Verdi principal-role debut as Giorgio Germont in La traviata with Opera Modesto, and debuts the role of Eisenstein in Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus with Opera St. Petersburg.
Recent engagements include Don Giovanni with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, the title role in Baruch’s Silence with the Muffled Voices Festival, Escamillo in Carmen with Knoxville Opera, and Scarpia in Tosca with Wolf Trap Opera. He has also appeared with Opera Southwest, Festival Napa Valley, Des Moines Metro Opera, and The Glimmerglass Festival, where his portrayal of Martin in Bernstein’s Candide was praised for its dramatic conviction and vocal authority.
Patton made his Carnegie Hall debut last year as the baritone soloist in Fauré’s Requiem with MidAmerica Productions, in addition to his National Symphony Orchestra debut as Montano in Verdi’s Otello. This last spring he returned to both Carnegie Hall and the NSO as Marco in a semi-staged performance of Puccini’s Il trittico.
A winner of the Lewisville Lake International Voice Competition and a semifinalist in the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Patton is represented by UIA Talent Agency.
